WHOLE HOME HUMIDIFIER INSTALLATION | NORTHERN COLORADO

Humidifiers sized, installed and set for a Front Range winter by a licensed, insured Northern Colorado team.

WHOLE HOME HUMIDIFIER INSTALLATION IN NORTHERN COLORADO

By the team at Homegrown Heating and Air Conditioning

Whole home humidifier installation in Northern Colorado is a heating season problem with a heating season fix. Once the furnace starts running in September, indoor relative humidity in most homes here falls into the teens and stays there until spring.

We at Homegrown Heating and Air Conditioning install and set up bypass, fan powered and steam humidifiers on existing forced air systems. This page covers humidification only. Filtration and air cleaning are a different job and live on our indoor air quality page.

What We Install

  • Bypass humidifiers, ducted from the supply plenum with a bypass duct back to the return
  • Fan powered humidifiers, for systems with no room for a bypass run
  • Steam humidifiers, for larger homes and for systems that cannot deliver enough evaporation
  • Humidistat setup
  • Water supply, water valve replacement and drain line routing
  • Seasonal changeover, including the summer damper position

Every installation starts with the same two questions: how much water does this house need per hour, and can this duct system carry it.

What We Check Before We Quote

A humidifier feeds off the duct system, so the duct system has to be able to feed it. On the visit we check:

  • Supply and return plenum space for the unit and the bypass run
  • Static pressure, because a bypass steals air the blower was already short on
  • A nearby drain or the room for a condensate pump
  • Water supply location and whether a proper valve can replace a saddle tap
  • Blower type and whether the system runs long enough to evaporate what you need

If the ducts are the limiting factor, we tell you before you buy equipment. That work is covered on our ductwork repair, sealing and installation page, and it usually makes more difference than a larger humidifier would.

Why Homeowners Call Us for Humidifier Installation

  • We size on house volume, leakage and design temperature, not on square footage alone
  • Licensed and insured throughout Northern Colorado, with upfront pricing before work begins
  • Same day service seven days a week, 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.
  • We show you how to operate and generally maintain your system before we leave

A humidifier that nobody services stops working by its second winter. Pad and canister replacement is part of our heating maintenance visit, along with checking the water valve and the drain.

What a Customer Said

Gail Harris called us for a repair, not a humidifier installation, so we are not going to present her review as if it were about this service. What it does describe is the full arc of the visit, from the first phone call through the technician who did the work.

“Professionalism from the first call to the Technician who did the repair! The owners were great and Dan the Technician was personable and informative.”

Informative is the part that matters on a humidifier installation. The controls only work if the homeowner knows what the humidistat does, where the damper sits in summer, and when to change the water panel, so we walk every customer through all three before we pack up. WHOLE HOME HUMIDIFIER FAQS

What humidity level should I hold in a Northern Colorado home in January?

The EPA target range is 30 to 50 percent. In practice, with a Larimer County design temperature near 1 degree, most homes here run near the bottom of that range in deep cold and can climb toward the middle in milder weather.

Is there a rebate for a whole home humidifier in Northern Colorado?

No. Efficiency Works, which serves Fort Collins Utilities, Loveland Water and Power and Estes Park customers, does not list it. Xcel Energy does not list it. Poudre Valley REA does not list it. Rebates in this market cover heat pumps, envelope work and thermostats, not humidification.

Why do my windows fog up after the humidifier runs?

The setpoint is higher than your glass can carry at that outdoor temperature. Lower it. Persistent condensation in a Front Range winter is a sign of an incorrect setpoint, not of a defective humidifier.

How often does a humidifier need service in this climate?

At least once each heating season, and that means before the season rather than during it. Mineral scale on an evaporator pad or a steam canister is the most common reason a humidifier stops keeping up here, and it builds through a long heating season.

Do you install humidifiers outside Fort Collins?

Yes. We cover Loveland, Greeley, Windsor, Timnath, Johnstown, Wellington, Berthoud, Laporte, Estes Park, Severance, Eaton, Ault, Evans, LaSalle, Kersey, Milliken, Platteville, Fort Lupton, Firestone, Longmont, Lafayette, Boulder, Bellvue, Livermore and Masonville from our shop in Fort Collins. Estes Park sits at 7,530 feet and runs about 28 percent more heating degree days than Fort Collins, which changes the sizing. Our Fort Collins service page covers city specific requirements.
