A replacement furnace sized on a Manual J load, permitted, commissioned and documented in Northern Colorado.
FURNACE INSTALLATION IN NORTHERN COLORADO
A furnace replacement is a measurement job before it is a hardware job. Homegrown Heating and Air Conditioning handles furnace installation across Northern Colorado, and every project starts with a load calculation, a look at the existing duct system and venting, and a written scope. We pull the permit, we set the equipment, and we commission it before we leave.

GOOD TO KNOW
FURNACE INSTALLATION QUESTIONS FROM NORTHERN COLORADO HOMEOWNERS
Do I need a permit to replace a furnace in Fort Collins?
Yes. Fort Collins covers furnace replacement under its mechanical fast-track permit, and the same permit type covers ductwork, air handlers and heat pumps. If a gas line is installed for the appliance, that falls under the mechanical permit as well. We pull it and can schedule the inspection.
Do I have to buy a 95 percent AFUE furnace?
No. The federal minimum is 80 percent AFUE today. The 95 percent requirement applies to units manufactured on or after December 18, 2028, and that date is subject to a pending federal petition. Efficiency here is a payback decision, not a compliance one.
How long does a furnace replacement take?
Most residential swaps are a single day. The schedule stretches when the vent path has to change, when the return is undersized, or when the electrical or gas connection needs rework. We tell you which of those apply before the day starts, not during it.
Does the elevation change which furnace you install?
It changes the setup more than the model. Gas input has to be adjusted for altitude above 2,000 feet, so the burner orifices are sized to the manufacturer’s high altitude listing for the unit we install. In Estes Park, at roughly 7,500 feet, that becomes a larger part of the specification.
