Eaton now builds new homes electric-ready, which changes what a future heat pump upgrade costs.
HVAC SERVICES IN EATON NORTHERN COLORADO
Eaton is a growing Weld County town on US 85 at about 4,840 feet, with Atmos Energy natural gas and electric service from Xcel Energy or Poudre Valley REA depending on the address. Homegrown Heating and Air Conditioning provides HVAC services in Eaton for repair, replacement and maintenance on gas furnaces, air conditioners, heat pumps and ductwork. In newer Eaton homes, we check what the builder left ready for a heat pump before we price one.

GOOD TO KNOW
EATON HVAC QUESTIONS WE GET
Is my new Eaton home ready for a heat pump?
If it was permitted under the 2024 codes and the Colorado Model Electric Ready Code, the builder should have reserved panel space, a circuit and room for future heat pump equipment. We verify those against the equipment before quoting.
Who provides electric service in Eaton?
Most of Eaton is served by Xcel Energy, and some addresses are on Poudre Valley REA. Atmos Energy provides natural gas. Your electric bill tells us which rebates apply.
Does Eaton require a permit to replace a furnace or AC?
Yes. Eaton’s permit forms list furnace and AC replacement, and SAFEbuilt performs the inspection.
Does Eaton require an HVAC contractor license?
Yes. The Town requires a contractor license for all trades, including mechanical. Ask for the Town license number before you sign.
What furnace rebate does Atmos Energy offer in Eaton?
Atmos pays 80 percent of the cost of a 95 percent AFUE or higher furnace, up to $3,000, and $50 for an annual tune-up by a licensed contractor.
Should I add a heat pump to my existing furnace in Eaton?
Often, yes. A dual-fuel system uses the heat pump for most of the season and the gas furnace on the coldest days, and Poudre Valley REA members get a $500 dual-fuel bonus.
