Peter Doll has spent 28 years learning what makes heating and cooling systems work, and what makes them work well for the people who live with them. Raised in Colorado Springs, he has called Northern Colorado home for almost 30 years.
He did not enter the industry from the business side and then learn the trade. Peter worked his way through it, gaining firsthand experience with installation, equipment, diagnostics, system selection, and the practical realities homeowners face when making heating and cooling decisions. That experience is the foundation of how he approaches his role today as a Fort Collins HVAC contractor and owner of Homegrown Heating and Air Conditioning.
Years spent installing equipment gave Peter a perspective that extends beyond the equipment itself. He specializes in residential ductless mini-splits, high-efficiency furnaces and air conditioners, humidifiers, and filtration systems that balance comfort, efficiency, and the realities of Northern Colorado homes.
His focus on high-efficiency equipment matters in a region where homeowners can access local energy efficiency programs and incentives. For Peter, that makes system selection more important than simply buying the highest-rated equipment on the shelf.
Peter has owned Homegrown for three years, and he brings 28 years of field experience to that role. He describes the company as rooted in the local community, and his responsibilities now extend well beyond installations to holding HVAC licensing across multiple Colorado jurisdictions.
That combination of field experience and ownership gives Peter a practical understanding of what customers need from an HVAC professional: technical competence, clear choices, and someone willing to stand behind the decision.
Community involvement is another important part of Peter’s Northern Colorado story. He and the Homegrown team support the United Way of Larimer County, its WomenGive program, Be the Gift, the Food Bank for Larimer County, and several local mountain bike organizations.
Homegrown also gives away a furnace every year, providing heating equipment to a community member who genuinely needs it. For Peter, giving back is part of being invested in the same communities where his customers, neighbors, and friends live.
A career like this does not come from a sales brochure. It comes from installing the equipment, understanding the homeowner’s side of the decision, and staying accountable to the same community for almost thirty years, now as the owner standing behind every job Homegrown takes on.
